The Birmingham Catholic Choir was formed in 1955 to provide entertainment for the public welcome to Birmingham of the Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop O'Hara. It changed its name to the Newman Singers in 1965, when the first layman was appointed as Musical Director, and became an ecumenical choir. The choir disbanded in 2012.
